J.B. Weisenfels has lived in rural Arkansas for three decades. She is a writer, a mom, and a graduate student. She is also an avid collector of tacky fish whatnots, slightly chipped teapots, and other old things. In her spare time she enjoys driving to the nearest creek to sit a while. If you were to visit her, she'd try to feed you cornbread.
Who knew Arkansas had a Grand Canyon? While it may not be as deep as the one out West, the canyon here in the Natural State offers some truly breathtaking views. It’s located along gorgeous Scenic Byway 7 and is only a few miles from the town of Jasper. Along Scenic Byway 7 you’ll find places to pull off the road and gaze out at the vast Big Creek Valley. There’s also a lookout tower and spots where you can book a stay.

The early bird gets the most stunning views. Check out these gorgeous sunrise shots:
One of the best places to see the site from is the deck of the Cliff House Inn, which houses a restaurant where you can eat their famous Company’s Comin’ Pie while gazing out at the canyon.
You can book a stay on the Arkansas Grand Canyon by visiting the website of Cliff House Inn. If they’re all booked up, look for other lodging at the Buffalo River Regional Chamber.
