Arizona is full of small towns just begging for a visit, and one of them is best known for being mentioned in a popular classic rock song. Located along Route 66, Winslow is a charming little town jam-packed with history and culture. You can even visit the world’s best-preserved meteor crater just outside of the city limits! According to HGTV, Winslow is among the best small towns to visit in America, and we couldn’t agree more.
Made famous by its mention in the Eagles' song "Take it Easy," Winslow is a former railroad stop along the iconic Route 66.
Winslow is home to under 10,000 people, however, it sees quite a bit of tourist activity. Travelers have been known to detour through town just to have their picture taken here, at Standin' on the Corner Park, which commemorates the classic rock song.
In the heart of downtown Winslow, the museum is free to the public and details the history and culture of Winslow via a number of fascinating exhibits. Hours are 3 p.m. until 11 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.

History buffs will also want to visit Homolovi State Park, which preserves over 300 Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites.
The word Homolovi is Hopi for "place of the little hills," and is the traditional name for Winslow. You'll find the park, which boasts hiking trails, historical exhibits, interpretive programs, and a campground, just a mile north of town.
Measuring one mile in diameter and 550 feet deep, the crater was formed 50,000 years ago by a meteorite that exploded with a force 150 times greater than the atomic bomb. The crater is open for self-guided tours from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.
La Posada's on-site restaurant, The Turquoise Room boasts contemporary Southwestern cuisine that will make your mouth water.
The restaurant is open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. for breakfast, 11 p.m. until 2 p.m. for lunch, and 5 p.m. until the last seating at 8:30 p.m. for dinner.
The martini lounge is open until 10 p.m., and there is a special traveler's menu from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
