Wildflowers In Arizona

Where are some of the best places to see wildflowers in Arizona?
Desert wildflowers are some of our favorites. The scent of sage mingling with lavender, desert lupines, and golden poppies can never be forgotten. Here are a few of the best places to see wildflowers in Arizona that we think you'll fall in love with, just like we did:

  • Schnepf Farms, Queen Creek, AZ: Schnepf Farms is well-known in the Queen Creek community as the place to go for U-pick fruit and vegetables. But they also offer something special you don't see at many farms - U-pick wildflowers! This is where we go when we need a beautiful bouquet for our table or a special occasion. When you come for a visit, make sure you come hungry for a huge, hot, fresh, cinnamon roll at the Schnepf Farms Country Store.
  • Peridot Mesa, San Carlos Indian Reservation, AZ: This beautiful mesa was named after the semi-precious stone Peridot that is abundant in this sacred Apache landscape. Another gem you'll find here is vast wild poppy fields glowing in bright orange and yellow hues. The spring bloom runs from late February to early April, and the best time to enjoy them is late morning or early afternoon when they are fully open. Poppies typically close back up about two hours before sunset.
  • Saguaro National Park, Pima County, AZ: You might think of saguaro cacti as tall prickly forlorn-looking sentries overlooking the Arizona desert, but when they bloom, saguaro takes on a whole new personality. These beautiful cacti flowers start to reach for the heavens around the last two weeks of April, but they don't reach full brilliance until late May or early June. One of the best places to see them is on the Cactus Forest Loop in Saguaro National Park. This 10-mile scenic drive is one of our favorite late-spring opportunities to catch AZ wildflowers.
