Winter stuck around as long as possible this year, but a promising sign that spring is near has been cropping up all across Arizona. Picacho Peak is one of the best spots to see wildflowers, with several easy hiking trails lined with vibrant yellow poppies from start to finish.
Picacho Peak features five different trails ranging in length from .2 to 3.1 miles. The shortest hikes are also the easiest, but they still have plenty of redeeming qualities like overlooks and interpretive signs.
Take the .7-mile, moderately difficult Calloway Trail that leads to a breathtaking scenic overlook. A sea of flowers extends as far as the eye can see, and you'll get a birds-eye view.
Both the Children's Cave and Nature Trails are less than half a mile and incredibly easy. Kids and those with lower fitness levels will appreciate having access to this enchanting natural phenomenon.
Have you ever been to Picacho Peak during the spring? Where else in Arizona can you go to see wildflowers? Here are a few of our favorite springtime hikes.
