There’s A Charming Village Of Shops Hiding In Arizona And You’ve Got To Visit
Shopping is always fun, but it’s even more so when the stores have character. Unlike boring, cookie-cutter malls and strip centers, this quaint English village in Arizona is one of the most charming places for a little old-fashioned retail therapy.
One of the main reasons we adore Lake Havasu City so much is because it takes us on a trip across the pond without ever leaving Arizona.
This is thanks, in part, to the London Bridge, which formerly spanned the River Thames before its relocation in 1967.
Keeping with the British theme, a charming little mall opened on the northeast corner of the bridge just a few years after it was dedicated.
A pub and restaurant were its mainstays, attracting visitors from all over the world.
Much like a movie scene, this copycat English village almost looks too perfect to house actual businesses.
However, that couldn’t be further from the truth, as it was an open-air shopping center for years.
Unfortunately, attendance dropped with the economy and all but forced the mortgage owner to foreclose.
Luckily, everything ended up working out for the best, as the style of the Motherland had long since spread to other strip centers all over the city.
Today, the Lake Havasu Visitor Center has set up shop in what used to be the London Arms Pub.
Tenants occupy nearly all the remaining storefronts, keeping the village alive and well even after coming so close to being obsolete.
Within walking distance from the bridge, you’ll find many more shops that have received a British makeover in the past couple decades.
Retail, water recreation gear, souvenirs, and everything in between can be found in an English-style building along the waterfront.
You'll find the shops right next to London Bridge over Lake Havasu.
Spend some time in the water before doing a little retail therapy - it’s a perfect day, as far as we're concerned!
