Nothing tastes better than seasonal produce, and there are plenty of places throughout the state where you can pick it yourself. Mortimer Farms in Dewey has strawberry fields forever, and the plump, juicy nature’s candy is ripe for the picking during the month of June.
Mortimer Farms is a long-standing, family-owned attraction offering year-round fun for all who visit. There are so many activities offered here, guaranteeing that everyone stays entertained all day long, but one of our favorites is definitely berry picking.
Starting June 1, 2019, the annual Berry Bash will be in full swing. This month-long event brings families together with deliciously sweet, ripe-for-the-picking strawberries and blackberries. It's also the perfect setting for a photo shoot, so dress up the kids in their finest summery attire and bring a camera along.
Children and adults alike will have a blast seeking out the plumpest, juiciest berries. You'll have a hard time not plopping right down in the fields to taste a few of these flavor bombs.
Strawberries are sold by the pound and you pay for your haul on the way out. Don't hesitate to fill a bucket generously - these vibrant gems are more than just eye-candy.
There is also a country store on the farm that sells pre-picked seasonal produce, meat from a farm located just down the street, local beer and wine, as well as canned goods. Stop by from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends for mouthwatering BBQ, or enjoy a fresh deli meal any day of the week.
Grandma Alice's Bakery turns those ripe, delicious berries into indulgent treats. Pies, turnovers, scones, and many more secret family recipes are guaranteed to leave both your heart and taste buds satisfied.
Admission to the Berry Bash is $7 per person and includes park access and hayrides. Tickets can be purchased either online or upon arrival, however advanced purchases are encouraged due to incredibly high demand.
