From its funky pizza joints to off-the-beaten-path motels, Bisbee is a small town full of historic charm and undeniable quirkiness. We’re adding one more obligatory stop to the list: OK Street Jailhouse Hotel. This century-old building once housed some of Arizona’s roughest criminals, but now you can spend a night in it. Take a virtual tour and see if you have what it takes to get locked up:
Built in 1905, this two-story jail housed prisoners for just over 10 years. The building was shut down when the number of inmates far exceeded its capacity.
The ground floor, featuring a small foyer, is where the jailer's office used to be located.
You'll also find a living room, full kitchen, and half-bath on the first story. This particular area was the "Drunk Tank," where intoxicated folks would be kept until they sobered up.
The bedroom, closet, and full bathroom with a shower and Jacuzzi tub can be found up here.
You’ll see things from the perspective of both jailer and inmate, letting your imagination run wild with the historical horrors this very building once harbored. You might want to sleep with one eye open.
