One of the most heartwarming things about Christmastime is witnessing neighbors unite to illuminate their yards with matching displays. This particular subdivision takes that camaraderie to a whole new level, offering hayrides through their decked-out streets. One of the nation's longest-running neighborhood Christmas displays, this year marks the 69th annual Winterhaven Festival of Lights. Beginning December 8, the entire subdivision will be set ablaze in a dazzling showcase of holiday cheer.

Opt for a walking tour, or get chauffeured around the block on a wagon, party bike, or trolley limo. Appropriately named after Santa's reindeer, the "sleighs" allow you to sit back and take in all the sights without lifting a finger.

Entire yards are illuminated in every color imaginable, some with themed decorations and others chaotic explosions that have no real direction. Trying to comprehend every last pulse, twinkle, and blink of the haphazard scene can be a bit overwhelming, but it's all in good, festive fun.

Some homeowners keep their yards more modest, offering a welcome reprieve from all the madness. These elegant displays give our eyes a short break to prepare for the next dose of sensory overload.
