There’s A Hobbit-Themed Airbnb In Arizona And It’s The Perfect Little Hideout
What better place to exemplify Middle Earth than an actual earth house? Harpur’s Haven in New River is a quaint cottage situated on three sprawling acres, largely located underground save for the entrance, back patio, and rooftop deck. Channel your inner Gandalf (or Gollum) and come spend the night.
Referred to as the "Hobbit Hole," this quaint little spot is actually, for the most part, nestled underground. You'll traverse a cobblestone walkway before entering the majestic double doors into a space even Gandalf would be jealous of.
At just $65 per night, the one-bedroom, two bath cottage is an absolute steal. It features a living area, full kitchen, back patio, ping pong table, and swing set.
Please note: you'll need to ask the host for cooking privileges.
Both light and dark wooden furnishings, many with hand-carved embellishments, add an old-world feel to the entire place. Grab a seat at the dining table and chow down on some honey cake, earthbread, and lembas.
Where else but in a hobbit house would the kitchen have a wardrobe? Maybe it's just a pantry — or perhaps opening those cabinets will lead you somewhere far beyond this realm of existence.
This massive antique bed will have you drifting off into dreamland almost instantly. Complete with a sitting area, TV, and satellite, it doesn't get much better.
Enough of the house is located above ground for guests to enjoy relaxing and barbecuing outside. There's even a rooftop deck to stargaze beneath the vast desert night sky.
