This Beautiful Desert Wildflower Loop In Arizona Has A Mouthwatering Restaurant Right Before The Trailhead
The only thing better than a delicious restaurant is one that offers breathtaking views while you eat. Gertrude’s, located in the iconic Desert Botanical Garden, definitely fits the bill, nestled amid beautiful Sonoran Desert plant life just before the Desert Wildflower Loop Trail. Come feast on Southwestern-inspired, farm-to-table cuisine and admire the gorgeous scenery all around you for a dining experience you’ll never forget.
One of the most popular destinations in all of Phoenix, the Desert Botanical Garden is a 140-acre arboretum boasting over 50,000 plants across 4,000 different species.
Vibrantly colored blooms line either side of the path on this easy, 1/3-mile stroll, which takes you through a hummingbird garden and into a magical butterfly pavilion.
Just before the trailhead is where you'll find Gertrude's, a farm-to-table restaurant featuring fresh, local, and in-season ingredients.
Inside the restaurant, patrons have access to a full bar with a wide selection of local and international libations, while the patio boasts unparalleled views of the surroundings.
The Southwestern-inspired menu is brimming with bold and unique flavor combinations - the French toast, for example, features prickly pear jam and white chocolate chips on top!
Other popular brunch selections include the Sonoran Benedict, with shredded green chile pork and green chile hollandaise sauce, and the classic Huevos Rancheros. Don't forget to add a side order of the Ricotta Donut Holes! They're pure heaven in a bite-sized package.
Lunch and dinner are similarly scrumptious, with entrees ranging from more traditional south-of-the-border fare like tamales to epic fusion dishes such as the Green Chili Bacon Cheeseburger, which is served on a tortilla rather than a bun.
Various seasonal offerings keep the menu fresh and ever-changing, so you never quite know what to expect. There are always plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, too, so those with dietary restrictions are certainly welcome.
