Summer in Arizona is on the way and we’re looking to have another sizzling season as usual. There are plenty of ways to stay cool this summer—whether you plan to head out to the mountains or chill out by the pool—but our favorite always involves water. Let’s take a look at one fun way to spend a summer day.

Located on the outskirts of Mesa and just beyond Usery Mountain Recreation Area, the Salt River flows as a natural lazy river perfect for tubing in the summer.

The cool water temperatures and gently flowing curves are the right combination for a relaxing retreat where you can enjoy the desert views from a different perspective.

You can choose from three different floating options, depending on how long you prefer to be out on the water: two, three, or five hours!

This can be a fun family experience, especially if your child is at least eight years old and at least four feet tall. Be sure to also bring a life jacket for them and any members of your party who may not be experienced swimmers.

When you arrive at the Salt River Tubing check-in location, you’ll get to rent a tube and purchase shuttle passes to the launching area.

Don’t forget to bring a driver’s license, sunscreen, water, snacks, a swimsuit, and other items to protect you from the sun! You can also bring your own tube if you already have one available. Glass items are prohibited and remember to leave no trace.
Once you arrive at the launching area, it’s time to settle into your tube and enjoy the ride! Don’t forget to reapply your sunblock every two hours.
