This Unassuming Restaurant In Arizona Serves Mouthwatering Meals To Die For
Looking for your next favorite restaurant? If you’re craving a mouthwatering meal that will fill your belly and make you smile, then you’ll want to check out this little Phoenix restaurant that won a James Beard Award in 2012.
The Fry Bread House is located on the southeast corner of 7th Avenue and Hazelwood, about a half mile north of Indian School Road in Phoenix.
It can be easy to miss if you don't keep your eyes peeled!
The restaurant is located inside a building that looks like an average house, complete with little flower beds and a gravel yard.
However, the location also has plenty of parking - something that's becoming rare in central Phoenix.
The restaurant is owned and operated their by a Tohono O'odham family.
Joedd and Cecelia Miller first opened the restaurant in 1992 before moving to a larger space. The Fry Bread Restaurant gained national recognition in 2012 after it received a James Beard Award for their "American Classics" category. This location on 7th and Hazelwood opened up in 2016 and has been delighting hungry customers ever since.
As its name suggests, this restaurant specializes in Fry Bread dishes.
Mmm, looks good, doesn't it? The golden color, fluffy texture, and slightly crisp exterior is perfect when served steaming hot and can be eaten plain, topped with savory ingredients, or even a little something sweet.
If you're not sure what to order, we suggest starting with a classic: the Indian Taco. It features fluffy fry bread topped with beans, lettuce, and cheese.
From there, you can venture into other dishes, like the red chile taco or a vegetarian taco.
If you want a taste of home, try dishes like the spicy red chile stew, menudo, or hominy stew.
All of these are perfect when served with a side of fry bread or chumath, a massive tortilla.
You'll also find specials served here, such as seasonal Hatch chiles as a topping for your meal and other traditional O'odham dishes.
So, are you ready to enjoy a mouthwatering meal that will delight your taste buds?
