Old Caves Crater Trail winds through gorgeous Ponderosa Pines, leading to the base of an extinct cinder cone volcano.
Clocking in at 4.2 miles, Old Caves Crater Trail is rated as moderately difficult. It's an uphill loop that takes about 1.5 hours from start to finish.

To access the Old Caves Crater Trail, head north on I-89 until coming upon Silver Saddle Road. Turn right, and then look for the trailhead on your left just a couple yards down the street.
