You Might Not Like These Predictions About Arizona’s Snowy And Wet Upcoming Winter
We’re a little more than halfway through monsoon season in Arizona, and the predictions for the upcoming winter have been released by the Farmer’s Almanac. As far as consistency goes… the upcoming winter weather patterns are not quite what we’d expect. Take a look:
In the northern regions of the state, from Flagstaff and northward, all indications are pointing to above-normal temps. However the region will still see a fair amount of precipitation.
And frankly, it remains to be seen how much snow will pile up in the southern most portion of that region, in Flagstaff, where below normal snowfall is expected. The coldest periods are expected to be in late December, early January, and early February, although average temps are still expected to be warmer in this region than usual.
The desert areas in Southern Arizona are expected to be much colder and wetter this winter. The colder air, combined with wetter temps could mean more snow as far south as Sedona — and beyond.
Over in the Southwest corner of Arizona, Yuma will see colder than normal temps and above average precipitation, but not necessarily much (if any) white powder falling from the sky.
Here's the Farmer's Almanac map just released with graphics for the entire country. Are you looking forward to the upcoming wetter and colder than normal winter in Southern Arizona this season?
The Farmer’s Almanac has been issuing weather forecasts since 1792 and is traditionally 80% accurate. Of course, this leaves 20% to chance. How much do you rely on this annual prediction for your area in Arizona?
