This Tiny Town On The Edge Of Alaska Is An Absolute Dream
Cordova is a shimmering jewel in Alaska’s crown, a uniquely beautiful spot along the coast of the Prince William Sound. You can most easily access Cordova by flying in or taking a ferry on the Alaska Marine Highway System. Although known for this infamous "Million Dollar Bridge," there are no roads to Cordova. Boats and planes are required to navigate the miles of pristine wilderness between Cordova and the rest of the world.

Cordova actually began as a port town for the copper mining operation at Kennecott, hundreds of miles to the north up the river. The town was organized in 1906 and continues to thrive today.
The town lies along the seaside and much of life here is ruled by the ocean and the weather. Most of the 2200 people in the town work in the commercial fishing industry.
Ocean kayaking among the glaciers is a popular activity here, by tourists and locals alike. The waters are perfect for exploring on calm days, and the scenery of deep glacial blues is stunning.
Glaciers dot the waters surrounding Cordova and you can explore the inlet and watch the glacier drop giant ice pieces with a splash, known as calving.
