The Shrine of St. Therese lies in a secluded area about 30 minutes outside of downtown Juneau. Slip away from it all and head up to commune with nature and yourself.
The National Shrine Chapel was constructed in the 1930s out of beach stone harvested on site. The shrine perfectly suits the setting and the natural world around it.
The Shrine and surrounding area are holy grounds, so make sure to be quiet and respectful of the tranquility as you explore the area.
The grounds are laced with walking trails that are lined with sculptures depicting "The Stations of the Cross." There is also a replica of Michelangelo's famous statue "The Pieta."
