North Pole, Alaska is a perfect place for a day out at Christmas or any time of year. Santa Claus House is open all year for a dose of Christmas joy and right next door is a beautiful winter attraction: Christmas in Ice. Here you can see ice sculptures carved by world champion competitors, including many international artists.
Christmas in Ice holds an ice carving competition in December each year and stays open through the beginning of January.
The ice maze is a perennial favorite and comes to life at night when the colored lights shine. The entire ice park will be more magical at night, but since the sun sets so early, it shouldn't be hard to visit when after dark.
World Class Champion Ice Carvers come from all over the world to compete. Local World Champions Steve and Heather Brice usually compete in this event as well.
