The Incredible Alaska Restaurant That’s Way Out In The Boonies But So Worth The Drive
On the Parks Highway between Fairbanks and Healy lies an old Alaskan favorite: The Monderosa. When you see the name popping into view along side the highway, it is impossible not to pull over and get a burger. If you find yourself anywhere near Denali or Fairbanks, drive the extra miles to dine at the Monderosa. You’ll love this delicious place in the boonies.

During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
The Monderosa has an enormous sign, almost as big as their burgers. It lies 55 miles south of Fairbanks and 55 miles north of Healy. Get cash before you hit the highway, as they don't take anything else.
If you are headed from Anchorage up to Fairbanks, this is a perfect spot to stop with just an hour left to the 6-7 hour drive. When you get cell service near Nenana you can call in an order for pick-up if you are in a hurry.
The hamburgers are their signature dish and you will hear them praised far and wide. The mosquito-free screened porch is a favorite dining spot during the summer months.
This large, log cabin building has a classic Alaskan vibe with antlers and vintage photos. The Monderosa has a full bar, but still has the "community center" feel of a rural hang out. It is a comfortable, family friendly place to get a meal.
The famous burger! Savor the large, handmade patty, grilled to perfection over an open flame, fresh, juicy lettuce and tomato, a sesame seed bun and a mountain of addicting fries.
Fried butterfly shrimp, halibut, chicken and steak sandwiches, salads and home cooked specials are also on the menu if a burger doesn't strike your fancy.
Visit the Monderosa for the best burger in Alaska. You won't regret going all the way out in the boonies to get here.
