If you enjoy beach combing and fossil hunting, there is a spot in Alaska that you won’t want to miss. Its at the end of the road and not the easiest place to get to. But if you make it out to Fossil Beach you will be rewarded with awe-inspiring scenery and the chance to put some fossils in your pocket. Let’s take a look at what this remote spot has to offer.
Fossil Beach on the eastern side of Kodiak Island is bordered on each side by immense cliffs. The small beach is at the mouth of a river that drains Twin Lakes.
To get to this isolated spot, you will travel to the very end of Pasagshak Road. You won't find many people out here other than a small handful of beachcombers or surfers.
The beach and its cliffs are only accessible at low tide when the water recedes and the sand and rocks are exposed. Once that happens, you can spend several hours here exploring.
