Located at Settlers Cove State Recreation Site, there’s a cute little trail that takes you through the forest.
The trail starts out as a wide, gravel path. After a short distance, it narrows when it heads into the forest.
Before long, the path becomes a hike on boardwalks through the stunning Tongass National Forest.
This hike is a fantastic way to explore this stunning area. The boards will keep you up and out of the wettest parts, which is especially nice during the rainy season.
As you hike along, you’ll reach a split in the trail.

There are so many fun and interesting parts to the hike.
The loop trail is only .8 miles long, and you'll climb 88 feet total in elevation gain. It’s an easy path to enjoy, especially as you climb beneath western red cedar, Sitka spruce, and western hemlock. It’s a fabulous short hike that shows off some of the best that Ketchikan has to offer.
Besides stunning views of the water from beaches, you’ll also get a first hand view of Lunch Creek Falls.
While crossing over rivers and waterfalls, hiking up moss studded boardwalks, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped right into a fairy tale. The place is positively magical.
The hike starts at the Settlers Cove parking lot.
If you find you can’t tear yourself away from this stunning area, be sure to spend the night at one of their campsites, or the public use cabin. This beautiful spot is worth spending some time in!
