The trail is rated “hard,” but many hikers who’ve completed it agree that it’s not technically difficult.
It is long, clocking in just over 10 miles out and back, but the elevation gain of 2,339 feet is gradual, and spread out over the trail. You’ll find the gradual ascent makes for a pleasant hike.
Block out anywhere from 4.5 hours if you’re a fast hiker, or closer to seven if you like to take your time.
It’s the perfect morning hike with a stop for lunch at the falls. You’ll pass through forest, and above the tree level to stunning mountain views.
This is a great hike to do in the summertime, and the trail is usually empty.
Keep your eyes peeled for ATVs, as they like to use the trail as well. And dress in layers, as the weather can change rapidly and you don’t want to get caught out without any warm clothes or rain gear.

To get to the trailhead, a car with 4WD is needed.
The road is just too rough to do without it. If you don’t have 4WD, you can park about 2 miles away from the trailhead, but that would add four additional miles onto your hike.
