There’s A Discovery Center In Alaska That’s Insanely Fun For Kids
Alaskans are always looking for something to do with the kids. If the weather is ever too wet, or too cold, there’s still plenty of fun options that the whole family will enjoy. The Discovery Center in Anchorage is a huge hit with kids and adults alike!
The Imaginarium Discovery Center opened up inside the Anchorage Museum in early summer of 2010.
This is a hands on science center for kids! There are over 80 different exhibits.
There are six different sections of the discovery center.
These sections are: Tote Kid Space, Earth and Life Science, Thomas Planetarium, Bubble Space, Kinetic Space, and Art Lab and Colab.
Kids can work together to create artwork.
Or take a guided trip through the solar system in the Thomas Planetarium. There's a cool area that uses toys to show off how kinetic energy works.
You can use their interesting heat mapping software!
Children will be amazed to see themselves in infrared on screen. There's also an interesting hands on area to encourage learning through play!
And of course, everyone's favorite, the Bubble Space.
Kids will learn about things like surface tension, different shapes, and even light reflection. When else do you have the opportunity to get inside a large bubble?
The Discovery Center is located inside the Anchorage Museum, right downtown.
You can visit them at their Address: Anchorage Museum, 625 C Street, Anchorage, AK 99501. They're open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day in the summer, and October 1st through April 30th, they're open from
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, and closed Monday.
