Time Lapse Videos Of Alaska

July 06, 2020

What time of year can you see the northern lights in Alaska?

Once the sky gets dark enough during the winter months you’ll have the chance to spot the aurora borealis. Evening displays of this stunning natural phenomena pick up in the months of September and March, because the Earth’s tilt in relation to the sun means that the magnetic field of Earth, and the solar winds, have synced up for a spectacular light show.

Where are the best places in Alaska to see it?

The farther north you go, the better your chances are of seeing the northern lights. Both for the amount of darkness you’ll encounter, and because the nights tend to be colder and drier. You want crisp, cold conditions for viewing this beautiful light show.
