The USS Alabama (BB-60) is a historic battleship that was commissioned in 1942 and served during World War II in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

In 1962, this historic battleship was retired and ordered to be scrapped. After several people, including many of Alabama's schoolchildren, helped raise money, the USS Alabama (BB-60) was preserved. In 1964, it was transported to Mobile Bay. Today, it operates as a museum at Battleship Memorial Park and welcomes visitors from all over the world.
