The Goldsmith-Schiffman Wildlife Sanctuary is located in southeast Huntsville near Hays Nature Preserve. This lesser known wildlife sanctuary is a must-visit all year long.
Spanning more than 375 acres of wetlands and bottomland hardwood forest, this wildlife sanctuary is the perfect spot for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to get closer to nature.
Unlike most other wildlife sanctuaries, this lesser-known sanctuary doesn't offer large amenities. However, it does offer more than three miles of scenic trails that are perfect for hiking and mountain biking.
The Goldsmith-Schiffman Wildlife Sanctuary is home to several bird species. With fall right around the corner, you'll also see an abundance of turtles during your visit.

To reach the Goldsmith-Schiffman Wildlife Sanctuary, you'll take Highway 431 South. After passing Old Highway 431/Cecil Ashburn Drive, you'll turn right onto Taylor Lane. You'll then turn left onto Taylor Road. While driving down this road, you'll need to look for a brown sign. Upon finding it, you'll see the sanctuary's parking lot on the left.
