The Tiny Town In Alabama With A Terribly Creepy Past
Alabama is home to many haunted places. From cemeteries and hotels, to restaurants and houses, you never know where you’ll spot a ghost here in the Yellowhammer State. There are also many towns located throughout Alabama that have a creepy past, including Hayden. Hayden, which has less than 2,000 residents, is a tiny town that's located in Blount County, Alabama. It has a haunting secret not many outsiders know about.
Without a doubt, Hayden's most haunted location is Jack Cole Road, which is located off Highway 7.
Jack Cole Road, which is surrounded by heavy woods, is one of Alabama's most haunted roads. Many people have reported seeing ghostly figures while driving along this dirt road.
The reports date all the way back to 1890. Hayden residents that lived along Jack Cole Road during this time reported hearing strange noises and seeing bright lights in the woods.
Several groups of people came out to investigate what was going on, but they left with lots of unanswered questions.
In 1900, there was a cholera outbreak, which caused the death of 60 residents. The hospital where these people died was located on Jack Cole Road. It's believed that's why so many spirits have been spotted along this road.
Later, a cabin was discovered in the woods. A mummified woman was found inside, who was believed to be a witch. Residents were convinced she was responsible for the strange things going on.
The most famous death on Jack Cole Road, which took place in 2003, was of a civil rights photographer. Strangely, a few days before he died, the photographer reported seeing scary things inside his house and outside in the woods.
If you're ever passing through Hayden, Alabama, consider taking a drive along Jack Cole Road for an unforgettable paranormal experience. However, if you do, be careful. Ghostly reports still continue to come in.
