Travelers Used To Flock To This Tiny Alabama Town To Experience Its Healing Mineral Waters

Alabama is filled with many small towns that have lots of great history. One of these small towns is Bladon Springs. To learn about Bladon Springs and its great history, take a look below.

Bladon Springs, a tiny unincorporated community in Choctaw County, is home to Alabama's Bladon Springs State Park.

This state park is situated on the site of four mineral springs, which were part of a public spa that opened for business in 1838. Because this spa became such a popular place, cottages, and even a luxurious hotel, were eventually built to accommodate guests from out of town.

Due to the mineral content of the spring water, travelers from all over the state and beyond came to experience it for themselves, especially since it was believed to have healing qualities.

Today, visitors of Bladon Springs State Park are welcome to drink from the wells, which have been capped off with a pump.

In addition to the mineral springs, there are other reasons to visit this state park, including the fact that it has a variety of places to have a picnic, including covered pavilions and picnic tables.

There's also a great playground area for the kids.
