In 2001, these statues began as a public art project that became known as "Peanuts Around Town." They were initially intended to help revitalize Dothan's downtown area while promoting tourism. Today, this art project is known as "Peanuts on Parade."

The way this project began is quite simple. Fiberglass peanuts were sold to people, businesses, and organizations. They were then painted to reflect them.

Today, more than 60 statues make up Dothan's famous "Peanuts on Parade." These include a library peanut, a policeman peanut, a fireman peanut, a superhero peanut, and so much more. A brochure is available at the Visitor's Information Center that'll direct you to each peanut.
