Many of Alabama’s residents are extremely wealthy. With that being said, Alabama is also home to many low-income residents. We compiled a list of the poorest counties in Alabama. According to the 2010 United States Census Data, the residents of the following 13 counties in Alabama bring in the least amount of income.

Many places in Alabama have a much lower cost of living than others. For these particular places, low-income residents can make do. Larger cities have a much higher cost of living. For these particular places, low-income residents might have a harder time. However, those working in larger cities normally bring home a larger paycheck vs. those working in smaller towns.
Overall, Alabama is an affordable place to live. Not to mention, it’s also one of the BEST places to live.
