There’s certainly no shortage of beautiful parks in Alabama. North Alabama’s Delano Park is a true gem and one of the state’s most beautiful parks. Read on to find out what makes this park truly special and why it belongs on your summer bucket list.
Delano Park is located in the beautiful city of Decatur at 825 Gordon Dr SE. It was dedicated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt during the 1930s, and it's recognized as one of the South's most beautiful parks.
Ever since it was founded in 1887, Delano Park has been a favorite spot for people of all ages. As a matter of fact, many people bring their grandchildren, and even great grandchildren, to this historic park where they spent a lot of time as a child.
While strolling the grounds of Delano Park, you'll come across several whimsical garden sculptures, including Heron Great Tree Gateway, The Big Turtle, Mr. Bullfrog, Swamp Rabbit, Dragonfly, Mr. Bullfrog's Family and Ben's Beaver.
The Historic Rose Garden, which was built in 1934, is Delano Park's signature spot. This special garden contains thousands of roses, in addition to other plants.
Delano Park is open from dawn until dusk, and it's the perfect spot to take a stroll or simply sit and relax.
There's also a splash pad and playground for children to enjoy while visiting the park.
One of the most notable features of Delano Park is its stone bridge. It's not uncommon for park visitors to have their photo taken at this popular spot.
