When it comes to food, Alabama doesn’t disappoint! With such a variety of food options to choose from, there’s something delicious for everyone. Listed below are nine popular foods that represent Alabama, in addition to some of the best places to find them.

1. Fried Chicken - Martin's Restaurant (Montgomery)
Martin's Restaurant in Montgomery, which has been in business since the 1930s, is best known for its delicious fried chicken. Over the years, many people have driven from near and far for a taste of this Southern staple.
2. Barbecue - Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q (Decatur)
Barbecue is one of Alabama's most popular foods. In fact, there's a barbecue restaurant in almost every Alabama town/city. Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q, which has two locations in Decatur, serves some of the tastiest barbecue in the South, and even world.
3. Peanuts - Alabama Peanut Co. (Birmingham)
Over the years, peanuts have become a popular snack food in Alabama. It's not surprising considering the state's history of peanuts. The National Peanut Festival is also held here each year. Because Alabama is located on the Gulf Coast, fresh seafood is quite popular. One of the most ordered seafood dishes here in the Yellowhammer State is shrimp. Doc's Seafood Shack & Oyster Bar in Orange Beach is well known for its fried shrimp, which attracts people from all across the U.S.
7. Pecan Pies - Priester's Pecans (Fort Deposit)
Alabama's state nut is the pecan, so it only makes sense that the pecan pie is among the foods that represent Alabama. Several places throughout the state sell pecan pies, including Priester's Pecans in Fort Deposit. In addition to pecan pies, this shop also sells pecan candies, bulk pecans, and so much more.
8. Fried Catfish - Greenbrier Restaurant (Madison)
Here in the South, there's no shortage of restaurants that serve fried catfish. One restaurant in particular that does is Greenbrier Restaurant in Madison. Both fried whole catfish and fried filet catfish are offered at this family owned and operated restaurant. The catfish is also available in small and large sizes.

When it comes to peaches in Alabama, Clanton's Peach Park is the ultimate destination. This unique attraction is where you'll find some of the freshest peaches around. The park's homemade peach ice cream and fried peach pies are a definite must-try.
