There’s no denying that Alabama is known for its delicious food. In fact, with such a variety of foods served right here in the Yellowhammer State, there’s something for everyone. Listed below are nine food truths you’ll truly understand if grew up in Alabama. Which of them to you agree with?

1. We can fry anything.
Anything you're craving can be fried. Anything! Catfish, chicken, onions, pickles, etc. can be fried to perfection thanks to a deep fryer, which you probably have in your very own home kitchen.
2. Only fresh seafood will do.
Because Alabama is located on the Gulf Coast, we have access to some of the freshest seafood available. No other seafood comes close to being as delicious.
3. Soul food is good for your soul, but that's about it.
If you're not familiar with this type of food, it's some of the greasiest and fattiest food you could ever eat. However, it's also some of the best.
4. Nothing beats a homecooked meal.
It's not uncommon for Southerners to spend many hours a week cooking meals from scratch. Thankfully, for days we don't feel like cooking, there are several restaurants located throughout the state that also serve these types of meals.
5. Not all barbecue sauce is brown.
That's right! Here in Alabama, we're known for our tangy white barbecue sauce, which was first created at Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q in Decatur. Once you try this special barbecue sauce, there's no going back to the other.
6. You've got to hurry when eating ice cream or popsicles in Alabama's sweltering heat.
Alabama is known for having some of the hottest temps, especially during the summer months. While eating ice cream or popsicles in this dreadful heat, you'd better do it quickly before it melts.
7. Fried Green Tomatoes is more than just a movie.
Fried Green Tomatoes is an award-winning movie that was released in the early 90s. It's also a popular side dish that Southerners simply can't get enough of.
8. All-you-can-eat buffets are perfect for large family gatherings.
Who doesn't love an all-you-can-eat buffet? Whether you're there with immediate family or your much larger extended family, we can all agree that it's the best value for the money.
9. Boiled peanuts are the only way to eat peanuts.
Sure, you can buy salted or dry roasted peanuts from your local grocery store, but nothing compares to boiled peanuts sold from a roadside stand. If you've never tried boiled peanuts, you should definitely consider it. They're the best!
