Many historical sites are located throughout Alabama. Some of these sites are heavily visited, while others sit abandoned. One of these well known historical sites is Fort McClellan, which sits outside of Anniston, Alabama. Fort McClellan is a former U.S. Army post that was established as Camp Shipp in 1898.

During World War II, Fort McClellan trained an estimated half-million troops, making it one of the largest U.S. Army installations. At the conclusion of the war, (and until it closed in 1999,) this Army post was home of the Chemical Corps and a Chemical Corps School, which trained soldiers in chemical warfare.

If you’ve never visited Fort McClellan, you simply must check out the drone footage below. This footage was captured at sunrise and it’s AMAZING.
