Visit These 7 Alabama Cities For An Unforgettable Summer Vacation
There’s no denying that Alabama is a great place to visit, especially during the summer months. The Yellowhammer State offers a variety of places that are perfect for a summer vacation. Among these places are seven cities, which you can learn all about below.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. 1. Gulf Shores
It's no surprise that Gulf Shores, which is located in Baldwin County, is Alabama's top summer vacation spot. After all, the city offers beautiful white-sand beaches and stunning coastal views. In addition to the beaches, visitors can also enjoy activities such as fishing from the Gulf State Park Fishing Pier, hiking the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail, or taking a walk on the wild side with a visit to the Gulf Coast Zoo.
2. Fort Payne
Fort Payne, the county seat of DeKalb County, offers a variety of outdoor activities perfect for doing on a summer vacation such as exploring Little River Canyon National Preserve. This scenic preserve is home to Little River Falls (pictured), which has become a popular swimming hole over the years.
Mobile summers have warm temperatures and offer beautiful beachfront views of the Gulf of Mexico. There are several activities you can do while on vacation in this city, including visiting the GulfQuest/National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico (pictured), or even taking a tour of the USS Alabama.
Birmingham, the most populous Alabama city, offers a variety of attractions that are perfect for all ages. A few of these include the Birmingham Museum of Art, Railroad Park, Birmingham Botanical Gardens (pictured), and the Birmingham Zoo. If you've never been to Birmingham, you'll most certainly want to visit this summer.
Florence, the county seat of Lauderdale County, is the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors of "The Renaissance City" enjoy boating and fishing in the Tennessee River, in addition to checking out popular attractions such as the Rosenbaum House, the Wichahpi Commemorative Stone Wall, and more.
Fairhope, which is located in Baldwin County, is one of Alabama's most charming towns. It offers breathtaking views of Mobile Bay and wonderful fishing opportunities off Battles Wharf. For those of you who enjoy shopping, Fairhope's French Quarter is a great place to visit. It features a variety of food and retail establishments.
Decatur, "The River City," is a great place to spend a summer vacation because it offers something for everyone. If you enjoy the outdoors, you'll want to visit Delano Park and Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. If you have children in tow, you'll certainly want to spend the day at Point Mallard Park (pictured), which is home to America's first wave pool.
