Alabama boasts many trails that lead to some pretty incredible overlooks. One in particular is the King’s Chair Loop. To learn all about this trail and its famous overlook, take a look below.
Alabama's King's Chair Loop, which is located inside Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, is a 4.2-mile loop trail with a moderate level of difficulty. It begins at the North Trailhead and follows the South Rim Trail, which is also known as the Blue Trail.
While hiking this trail, you'll notice an elevation change. It's an easy trail to begin with, but it won't be long before you're faced with steep inclines, steep declines, and lots of rocky terrain. One of the best features of Alabama's King's Chair Loop is that it's marked well. Trees located along the trail have blue rectangular blazes nailed to them to make the trail much easier to follow.
...King's Chair Overlook, which happens to be a large rock outcropping that looks like a chair. Because you can sit on it like a king, it received its unique name "King's Chair."
From this overlook, you'll be able to see for miles and miles. You'll then come to the conclusion that the hike was more than worth it because the King's Chair Overlook offers such a breathtaking view.
