Crawfish boils are so joyful and delicious, love can sometimes be in the air. But be careful if you are flirting while eating! From squirting the boil juice in your eye to getting the yellow stuff in all the wrong places, there are a lot of awkward moments that can come up.
Or best friend, childhood friend, etc. In this city, it feels like more often than not, if you are saying something bad, it’s going get back to that person. So best just to keep things to your inner circle.

With all the outdoor festivals and of course Mardi Gras, most people in New Orleans have really had to go…but not had an ideal place to do it. You may have think you’ve found a perfectly hidden spot…but that doesn’t mean you have. Beware of all the ways your little pee spot might get invaded…or you could end up in a very awkward moment.

Just as likely in this city, is going to a party and being the only one not dressed in a costume. New Orleans is a place where it can be really difficult to get the dress code just right. On the other hand, very few people actually care, so you can just relax.
There may be nothing worse than having visitors in New Orleans who don’t like New Orleans. It’s okay if this place isn’t your cup of tea, I get it, but when half the fun of living here is showing people a good time, and it doesn’t seem possible to do it…well that just makes for a whole weekend of awkward moments.

During festival times in the city, parties are everywhere, and lots of them have an open door. More likely than not, though, you’ll probably find yourself thinking you could just waltz in and then realizing actually, you weren’t invited. Best to just see yourself to the door!
If there’s one thing New Orleanians have tons of, it’s opinions about food. But if you aren’t 100% who made what you are eating, be careful before you start letting everyone know what you think about it. You might just end up with something nasty in your bowl the next time you come over.
Over the years, you learn that streamlining the costume is one of the best things you can do. You want to make sure you are not letting things fly all over everywhere or get stuck on things along the way. Otherwise there may be some really awkward moments.

When you’re a local, you’re used to servers leveling with you a bit. You know they have to put the charm on for the tourists, but not you. But then when they are overly nice to you…it just makes you wonder.
If you wear flip flops in the middle of a rain storm, there’s a good chance you’re gonna end up getting pretty dirty. Mud boots are essential. Especially if you are going to jazz fest.
And being met with blank stares. Sometimes you just forget that you don’t have the same freedoms everywhere you go. And every time you are reminded, it hurts….more than a little bit.
