Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve In Kansas Is A Place You Must Visit

It’s time to get outside and get active, and what better way to do so than take a walk through a gorgeous National Preserve?

Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is a fantastic example of classic, natural Kansas without all the extra cities and highways. It's truly one of our best 'escapes' from the outside world.

Winding hiking paths offer you a safe route through the endless prairie and endless beauty. In the spring, there's grass burning and in the summer, there's plenty of grazing cattle and buffalo.

There's a small forested area on the lower trail, which gives an interesting mix of trees and grasses you won't often find elsewhere.

Abandoned schoolhouses and other crumbling buildings dot the landscape here and there, adding an extra layer of adventure to your travels. This schoolhouse is actually open from May-October, 9am-4pm for visits.

Currently, it's calving season, so I'd keep extra distance between you and these protective animals. Tallgrass also offers bus tours, where you don't have to sacrifice your ankles just to see this beautiful area.

Truly, this is the place to be for Kansas nature lovers everywhere.
