Louisiana is a magical place, but we come with some rules. We do things a bit differently down here, and it’s best if you know these things ahead of time.
Let’s get this straight once and for all. It’s pronounced new or-LINS, not new or-LEENZ (rhymes with jeans).
When you’re talking about the parish or the street, all rules go out the window and you’d pronounce it or-LEENZ. General rule of thumb is if "Orleans" is by itself (not preceded by the word ‘new’) then you go with or-LEENZ.

LSU, Saints, or Ragin' Cajuns, it doesn't matter (as long as it's not Alabama). We love football and we love it fiercely.
