There are dive bars, and then, there are dive bars. In far Northern Wisconsin, there’s a tavern that’s the furthest thing from upscale, a place that takes rural rustic to a whole new level. And that’s exactly what makes this place kind of wonderful. This fine establishment is called The Plywood Palace and it looks a little bit like a home-built storage shed that’s seen much better days. There’s no indoor plumbing but plenty of character and there’s always cold beer. You’ll find this quirky Wisconsin tavern in the little town of Moquah and it’s a place like no other. Moquah is a small unincorporated community located in northern Wisconsin, in Bayfield County. The town is located on County Highway G and its name is Algonquian for "bear."

There’s not much in Moquah, but there’s a bar that draws people from far away – they arrive by car, ATV, and motorcycle. There’s special parking reserved for “Biker Chicks.”
