It started as a way for toads to cross the road. Soon after the toad tunnel was built, this toad crossing had little buildings made for toads. This adorable toad village in Davis, Northern California is a cute and quirky pit stop you’ll want to see.

When a six-lane road was going to replace a dirt road where toads would cross, local wildlife activists and animal lovers spoke up.

In 1995, the city of Davis spent around $14,000 to install an underground tunnel for toads and frogs so the amphibians wouldn’t get hit by vehicles.
Locals put up the cute toad village and decor, and named this area “Toad Hollow”.

There are actually several tunnels in this area that lead all of the toads and frogs to a reservoir.
This cute little toad village is located on a tiny bit of land next to the post office in Davis.

To get to this magical little toad village, first, you’ll park at the USPS office. From there, you can walk to Toad Hollow. It’ll be located in a small patch of grass not too far from the post office.
