Wildwater Chattooga is an adventure center located in Long Creek, which is a small town in Oconee County, part of the upstate area of South Carolina.
Wildwater provides incredible rafting, ziplining, SUP (stand-up paddleboarding), and kayak tours. The Chattooga River was the first river east of the Mississippi to be granted the wild and scenic designation under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, which protects more than 13,400 miles of rivers and streams in the U.S.
Designation as a wild and scenic river is the strongest form of protection for free-flowing rivers and streams in the country. Southern Living Magazine has said that Chattooga River rafting is the #1 thing southerners must do!

Are activities with Wildwater Chattooga open to children? Certain whitewater trips are open to children beginning at different ages, depending on the trip, and the zipline canopy tours accommodate kids 8 years old and up with a minimum weight of 60 pounds with an adult escort required for each kid under 12 years old.
You do not have to book an adventure to stay in the yurt village, but it does provide a nice option for those who are coming for adventure to stay overnight. A yurt is like a round, very rustic cabin with electricity.
The village is nestled on the edge of the woods overlooking Academy Lake. There are five yurts varying in size, accommodating up to 34 people in total. You can rent just one or all of them, depending on your needs during your stay.
Inside the yurts are bunk beds with mattresses for sleeping, a small storage unit and benches, and a ceiling fan. They each have power with lights and small heaters.
You will need to bring your own sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels. You'll also want to bring a flashlight to use while walking around outside at night. Be sure to bring extra blankets if you're staying when the weather is cooler and you feel you might want or need extra layers of warmth during the night.
The yurt village has a multi-purpose commons building with a kitchen and bathroom facilities.
The kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and silverware. The Commons does not have plates, glasses, coffee mugs, or any food products, but paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies are available.
