So it’s no surprise that locals get a kick out of these places, great for a springtime day trip. Some of these places to go in Connecticut may leave you scratching your head, but I guarantee you’ll be glad you went!

Visit John Zaffis' estate to see his personal collection from what he calls "demon chasing." The nephew to Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal exploration definitely runs in the family. The museum is underground in a structure behind the house, and is said to be a pretty exciting day trip.
Barnum, a well known circus man in his prime, designed this building himself. You can see a preserved elephant here among some other weird and interesting things, including an authentic mummy.

This is your chance to see graves dating as far back as 1687. The well kept secret is also thought to be home to up to 1,000 unmarked remains. Yikes!

Think Madam Tussaud's, except way better. The great nephew of Henry Hull, who played the wolf in Werewolf of London, created this place to immortalize movie monsters.
This copper mine turned prison turned copper mine is a testament to failed ventures. As a prison, Old Newgate was famous first for letting a lot of felons escape and then for incredibly inhumane conditions. Oddly enough, a section of the tour is showing you how the prisoners got out. Which means they never corrected the issue!

This house is a visual hoax. From the front it appears to be 86 feet of glorious architecture, but the side view reveals it's only 18 feet deep. This house is just one large room with pine board pillars.
The chapel itself isn't weird. It's actually what's inside. This place has the detached arm of Saint Edmund in a display case. The 13th century brother will certainly never be forgotten now.

This bridge featuring eight foot statues of frogs sitting atop spools is definitely a weird one. But they do represent the town's prominence in cotton manufacturing and Windham's Frog Fight of 1754. So I guess it makes sense.
