It’s official: Colorado is one of the worst states to drive in, and guess what? Literally, no one batted an eye at this news, as we are well aware. As a native Coloradan (born and raised), I see this regularly (though never with my driving, of course), and now a national publication has also taken notice via an extensive study:

According to WalletHub's 2021’s Best & Worst States to Drive in, Colorado is the 9th worst state to drive in, coming in behind other states like Hawaii, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

To come up with these numbers, WalletHub compared all 50 states across 4 main categories, including the Cost of Ownership and Maintenance, Traffic and Infrastructure, Safety, and Access to Vehicles and Maintenance, with Colorado scoring poorly in all of the above.

As per WalletHub, Colorado scored a total of 52.71 out of 100 points (with the Cost of Ownership and Maintenance accounting for 30 points, Traffic and Infrastructure for 30, Safety for 30, and Access to Vehicles and Maintenance for 10), which was significantly lower than the safest states.
