The Cohansey River is a 30.6-mile-long river that runs through South Jersey and empties into the Delaware Bay.

The river runs through Salem and Cumberland Counties and interconnects with Sunset Lake. At low tide, it's just under 2 feet deep in some areas.

Perhaps most interestingly, the river played a major role in the Greenwich Tea Party. Similar to the Boston Tea Party, tea was brought up the Cohansey River (specifically to avoid making port in Philadelphia), stored to be shipped out, and then burned by protesters of the tea tax.

They wanted to make an important point - tea could not be brought in through New Jersey ports without repercussions. One notable participant was Richard Howell, who went on to become the 3rd governor of the state of New Jersey.
