With an elevation of 535 feet, Mount Driskill is the highest natural summit in Louisiana. Okay sure, by any other state’s standards our mountain would be called a hill, but you know what, it’s our mountain and we take what we can get. If you’re up for an adventure, there’s a lovely little hiking trail that will lead you straight to the summit, and you’ll have some rare treetop views from the top of the trail.

You’ll find Mount Driskill in Bienville Parish, just outside of Bryceland, Louisiana.

Our beloved little mountain was named for James Christopher Driskill, who purchased 324 acres of land (which included the mountain) in 1859.

The mountain itself is actually a landform created by the erosion of sediments including clays, silts, sands of the Cook Mountain Formation. The summit consists of non-marine quartz sands.
