This stunning work of art has quite the history behind it, too. If ever you’ve traveled to Golden Isles by way of this bridge, then you already know how beautiful it can be. But did you also know it’s the tallest cable-stayed bridge in Georgia?

If ever you find yourself traipsing over the Brunswick River, then you will likely be on the new Sidney Lanier Bridge in Georgia.

The Sidney Lanier Bridge is the tallest and longest cable-stayed bridge in the state and is also quite stunning, to say the least.

Providing access to the Golden Isles from I-95, this gorgeous bridge clocks in at 7,780-feet long and 486-feet tall.

With a roadway that is around 200-feet above sea level, it is nearly as tall as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco!

The new bridge was built as a replacement to the old lift bridge, which unfortunately was struck twice by ships coming through below.

This work of architecture was named after the famed Georgian poet Sidney Lanier, who wrote about the area explicitly throughout his career.

Today, you can drive over the bridge and appreciate all the history and architecture this wonderment holds.

Or in early February, the bridge closes to traffic and lets people run or walk the bridge for the annual 5k Bridge Run!
