We all love our fall colors, no matter what shade of yellow, orange, or red they are. Last year, Smoky Mountains, our foliage predicting friend, showed fall colors sweeping across the continent with relative accuracy. However, we’ve had a bit of a wet and wild summer, at least during flood season. This year, expect your favorite fall colors to be a little late. Fall foliage timing this year is thanks to our wet summer, but how late is it really?

Last year, most of our fall colors were predicted to arrive around October 20th. This year, only the westernmost counties are even close to peak at that time.

Leaves around Kansas are supposed to start changing around October 26th, but at that point, most of Kansas' color is supposed to patchy and not very bright.

Finally, after so long of a wait, Western Kansas peak colors are predicted to happen around November 2-9 this year.
