When you hear people talking about moving to the state of New York or living in it, you’ll hear about the basic complaints like our high taxes or frigid lake-effect winters. 3. Everywhere you look there are small towns.

Friendly faces, family-owned and operated restaurants, unique attractions, it's not like our small towns are worth pulling over for - even if they are waiting for you on nearly every corner.

A winter wonderland, the country's best fall foliage, spring flowers, and all that summer fun? It sounds a bit overwhelming and frankly a lot to deal with.
6. Most of the time while you're living here, you feel like you're somewhere else anyways.

7. You'll always be near the water.

No matter where you live in the state of New York, between all of the lakes, rivers, and even the ocean nearby - you won't get to enjoy the luxury of being in a land-locked state.
8. Things tend to get noisy with all of those waterfalls scattered throughout our state.

You've probably heard by now that you can always go chasing after waterfalls in New York, but doesn't that sound tiring? Between that and all of the noise created from the soothing rushing water, it doesn't seem like this would be a benefit to anyone.
9. There are simply too many restaurants to choose from.

Every single region in the state of New York has cities and small towns that are filled with amazing restaurants, with so many to choose from it seems like living here would put your head in a permanent frenzy.
10. A lot of the hikes here aren't even that difficult.

Some states have hikes that are inside large national parks and require you to be an avid hiker or to even get legal passes to enjoy them, but here in New York all you have to do is walk outside and enjoy the scenery. That doesn't even sound that exciting, does it?
11. We're a lot closer to the North Pole than you may have previously realized.

We're sure you were prepared to deal with our winters, seeing as we're situated up here in the Northeast, but did you realize you'd be so close to the North Pole? That's right, there's an actual hamlet within the Adirondack Park named the North Pole and things can get chilly!
12. Everything here is old.

As you explore New York State, you'll almost constantly see signs everywhere you look that tell you-you're by a historic site. Between the official historic sites, long-standing restaurants and stores, it's hard to be happy living in a state with so much history and old attractions.
13. Once you settle in here, you'll most likely never leave.
