The recent weather in Minnesota is a reminder to never get too comfortable with the weather in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Just when we thought spring was around the corner – or at least around the block – weather reports suggest even more coming cold and snow. The winter of 2018-2019 has been a whirlwind for Minnesotans. The season started out mild, with many people across the state experiencing a lackluster brown Christmas.

After that, it has been nonstop cold ever since. In January, schools across the state closed for several days in a row thanks frigid wind chills.

It was a weeklong stretch of cars not starting, pipes freezing, and dangerously cold temperatures.

While it has warmed up a bit since the big freeze, the Land of 10,000 Lakes is still solidly frozen after the season's mild start.

To put a cherry on top of the cold, Minnesota has been dumped with snow for the past month. Snow-related school closures have affected many districts in the state.
