Portland might have our favorite Christmas light display in all of the state. Lights hang from trees that are completely lit up from the ground to the branches. It's beautiful!

7. Trees are lit up across the state.

From larger cities to tiny towns, the tree lightings that begin around Thanksgiving and last a few weeks are the true sign that the holidays are here.
8. Felting and giving felted gifts.

It's not uncommon to see someone felting while they're relaxing in the weeks leading up to Christmas. This is one of the best New England crafts.
