You'll Never Believe How Tiny This Nebraska Town Is... OMG.

You might think you live in a small town, but unless your name is Elsie Eiler, you don’t even know the meaning of small town. Eiler is the mayor and sole resident of Monowi, a 0.21 square mile incorporated village located in the northeastern part of Nebraska.

The population marker of "2" is an homage to Eiler's late husband, Rudy Eiler, who passed in 2004. Though Elsie is now the only person living in Monowi, visitors frequently stop to see the village.

The population of Monowi peaked at 150 during the Great Depression; then, the village lost many of its residents to cities. Today, the biggest draw for visitors is the tavern, which Eiler runs.

Eiler collects taxes from herself in order to power the street lamps and also grants herself a liquor license. Eiler also runs the town library, named after her late husband.
